Included in $3,000.00 Cost:

• Philmont Trek Fee: $1,850.00 (Estimated for 2028; final rates will be published by Philmont in Oct 1st 2026).

• Early Arrival Fee (1 Day): $50.00 (Covers the extra night of trail tents and meals at Base Camp for acclimation).

• Training Hikes & Shared Gear: $100.00 (Covers prep hikes and shared troop backcountry equipment and gas for the stoves while on trail).

• Crew T-Shirts (Class B): $35.00 (Covers two custom Liberty Troop crew shirts per person for the trail).

• Travel Sacks (1 Large / 1 Small): $25.00 (Required laundry-style bags for containing hiking packs on the flight and storing personal items in bear bags while on trail to avoid a mess).

• Round-Trip Flights (PHL to DEN): $600.00 (Includes 1 checked bag per person).

• 15 Passenger Vans for Transport: $178.26 Per Person (Including Gas, One van per crew)

• Trip Planner Fee: $122.86

If you add up the exact categories above, the total comes to $2,961.12. 

We have rounded the final budget up to $3,000 per person. This creates a small buffer for any unexpected price increases. Any leftover funds after the trek is completed will be put towards the following years High Adventure Fund.

Disclaimer: The $3,000.00 fee may increase up to $3,200.00 depending on inflation and amount of attendees. The increase will be communicated via email and it will only increase as needed, not automaticaly to $3,200.

The $3,000 fee covers the official expedition, but families should be prepared to purchase the following items on their own:

• Personal Gear: Backpacking backpack 65L+, broken-in hiking boots, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, headlamps, and rain gear. (See the official required gear list on the Gear page).

• Spending Money: Scouts will need personal spending money for travel meals at the airport and one on the road (1 breakfast & 2 lunch ~$60.00), Base Camp snacks at the Tooth of Time Traders, and souvenirs.
